A group of students at the International Study Centre showed creativity in their business task, making a positive difference to other students from abroad. “Mama’s Cooking” focuses on food, not just any food, but what your mother used to make at home. They created a website where you can find the recipes you love or learn new cooking skills, so you can make delicious dishes from other countries.

Students Raina, Johnson, Tracy, Raad, Vito, and Bei Li chose food as the topic of their project as an essential of students’ everyday life. As an international student, being able to find familiar food from home is important to settle in to life in Leeds and feel that extra bit of comfort, reminding you of home.
This is a great example of students showing their initiative to succeed in their programme but also make a real change. Bei Li said: “I have learnt so much through this short journey I went through with my team. I think my biggest takeaway from this project would be seeing how each and every one of us grew at the end of the day, after putting in so much effort in making this possible. I learnt how to embrace the differences of each group member and that communication is key to everything.”
