Programmes

Leeds International Study Centre for progression to the University of Leeds offers a range of pathway programmes, so you can find the right pathway for you. The pathway programmes taught at the International Study Centre lead to a diverse set of degrees at the University of Leeds.

International Foundation Year

The International Foundation Year is a one-year undergraduate pathway programme. It designed to boost your English language and academic skills to the required level for entry to the first year of your degree at “the University of Leeds.

International Year One

The International Year One prepares students for entry into the second year of an undergraduate degree. Equivalent to the first year of your degree at the University of Leeds, this programme enables you to complete your undergraduate degree in the standard three years. During your time at the International Study Centre, you will improve your academic and English language skills in a supportive environment.

English Language Preparation Online

The English Language Preparation Online courses are ideal if you need to improve your English language to reach the required level for your programme at the International Study Centre. Available for students wishing to study the International Foundation Year or International Year One programmes, these intensive courses will boost your English language level before you start your programme at Leeds International Study Centre for progression to the University of Leeds.

To study at the Leeds International Study Centre, you will need to meet our English language and academic entry requirements.

Our expert teachers will deliver a high-quality blended learning experience making use of both face-to-face teaching and our innovative digital teaching solutions. When you study face-to-face you can expect classes of no more than 25 students, whilst our digital platform allows you to enjoy interactive classes with plenty of discussion opportunities to improve your English. Both types of learning allow for self-study time to help you to learn to study independently. You will be assigned a Personal Tutor who is there to support you every step of the way to help you to stay on track to progress to the University.


If you are starting your pathway programme with us in September or October 2023, we offer a free online preparation course, Prepare for Success, to help you gain a head-start before you start your academic programme.

Fees

When considering studying in the UK, you need to consider the tuition fees and accommodation costs, as well as your living costs. You can also explore the scholarship options available.

Accommodation fees vary according to the length of stay and which residence you are living in. 

Accommodation

We work with Study Inn, a student accommodation provider in the UK. Located in Leeds city centre just a ten-minute walk from the Leeds Beckett University’s City Campus, Brotherton House offers convenient and modern premium student accommodation.

You can also arrange your own private accommodation, but you must live within an hour’s commute of the International Study Centre. Your accommodation should be no more than a 60 minute commute from the Centre, but for the best student experience and to be able to focus on your studies, we strongly recommend that you arrange accommodation in Leeds.

Once you have accepted your offer of a place and paid your confirmation payment, you are able to choose and book your accommodation.

Visas

You will need a Student visa (formerly known as a Tier 4 visa) to study in the UK. More information is available on our visa process page.

If needed, you can apply for a UK Student visa online via the UK government website.

You can now receive your Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies (CAS) up to 6 months before your course start date (3 months if you are already in the UK). You can then start the process of applying for your visa.

Please ensure you meet relevant deadlines so that there is enough time for your application to be processed.
