How to make the most of your first semester in Leeds

Australia

Studying at the Leeds International Study Centre for progression to the University of Leeds will not only prepare you for employment, but you will benefit from an exciting and vibrant city that is a great place for international students. Exploring the city throughout your first semester is the perfect way to get to know the area, meet your classmates and have fun.

What to do in Leeds

Open spaces

Explore more than 700 acres of parkland, woodland, lakes and gardens at Roundhay Park. It’s one of the biggest city parks in Europe and a great place to think and relax. Visit the beautiful Kirkstall Abbey to enjoy a fascinating history lesson along with your walk. This medieval Cistercian abbey is set in green parkland on the edge of the River Aire and is amazing for wildlife and nature lovers.

Culture

Admire works of art from around the globe and closer to home in the city’s excellent range of galleries. Choose from Leeds Art Gallery, The Henry Moore Institute and Leeds College of Art to get taste of art throughout the world. For history lovers, Iron Age tools, Egyptian mummies and Roman artefacts will capture your imagination at Leeds City Museum. And if you’re interested in medical science, Thackray Medical Museum will take you on a journey through the history of medicine.

Music

Leeds has a lively music scene and there will always be gigs and music events for you to enjoy around the city. Throughout the year you’ll find plenty of free gigs for students going on in the city. You might even spot the next big band before they become famous!
